Trésor, A refugee Poet
"The reason I left DRC was my writing. I wrote a poem talking about the political situation of the country, trying to analyze if we're really independent or not. It got me in troubles, I was about to be arrested, I saw other people who raised their voices before, so I had to flee. Many young people, many poets are in prison. I didn't want to be one of those, I wanted to keep performing and fighting for my country." Menes La Plume—Trésor—a Congolese poet living in Malawi and organizing the first and the biggest festival in a refugee camp, the Tumaini Festival, in Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
